Bio
Dr. MaryAnn Rush Wallace joins Lehigh Carbon Community College as the Director of Athletics.
Prior to LCCC, Rush Wallace worked as the Coordinator of Athletic Programs at Penn State Lehigh
Valley, where she was responsible for: academics, compliance, retention, budgeting, and
transportation. She believes strongly that student-athletes are "students" first, which is why one of
her primary missions is to bolster academic excellence in addition to athletic achievement. During
her time at PSULV, Rush Wallace implemented several strategies, which saw an increase in
student-athlete grade point averages from 2.7 to 3.26.
In addition to her tenure at Penn State Lehigh Valley, her higher education appointments include:
California University of Pennsylvania, Lehigh University and Ancilla College of Marian University in
Donaldson, Indiana. While at Ancilla, she served as Assistant Sports Information Director, Assistant
to the Athletic Director, and Head Cheer Coach. She elevated the cheer program by strengthening
recruiting efforts and starting the college's first competition squad, which competed nationally. In
addition to leading the cheer team to strive for excellence in athletic and academic aspects, Rush
Wallace sought to instill a sense of community in her student-athletes by taking part in service
projects such as working closely with the Sojourner Truth House, an organization that aids homeless
and at-risk women and their children.
Rush Wallace obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Multidisciplinary Studies from West Virginia
University. While at WVU, she was a part of the NCAA Division I West Virginia University cheer
team. Rush Wallace continued her education and cheer experience at California University of
Pennsylvania, where she graduated with a Master’s degree in Exercise Science. In 2017, Rush
Wallace earned a Doctorate in Education Administration with a specialization in Athletic
Administration from Northcentral University. Her dissertation is entitled: Qualitative Case Studies on
Injury, Class Performance, and Stressors Contributing to Depression among Collegiate Student-
Athletes.
Rush Wallace lives in Saylorsburg with her husband and their two dogs.
