SCHNECKSVILLE, Pa.- Lehigh Carbon hosted Bucks County Community College in a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon. The Centurions emerged victorious in the first game with a final score of 4-3.
The game started off with Bucks County taking an early lead in the first inning, but Lehigh Carbon responded with two runs in the second inning to take the lead. The Centurions then scored two runs in the third inning to regain the lead, and both teams added a run each in the following innings.
Lehigh Carbon's Ethan Kauffman (Scotrun, PA/Pocono Mt. East) and Hunter Rothrock (Allentown, PA/Salisbury) were the offensive stars for their team, each driving in a run. On the pitching side, Jaden Click (Mount Jackson, VA/Mountain View) started on the mound for the Cougars, giving up one run in two innings of work. Owen Ondrejca (Laurys Station, PA/Parkland) and Ben Boyer (New Windsor, MD/Linganore) also pitched for Lehigh Carbon, with Boyer taking the loss.
In game two, Lehigh Carbon came out on top with a final score of 8-7. Lehigh Carbon took the lead early on, but Bucks County fought back throughout the game. However, Lehigh Carbon's strong pitching and timely hitting secured the victory.
The Cougar's Ben Boyer (Kutztown, PA/Northwestern Lehigh) had a standout performance at the plate, hitting two doubles and driving in three runs. Sophomore Hunter Rothrock (Allentown, PA/Salisbury) also contributed with three RBIs. On the pitching side, Jakob Israel (Collingwood, ON/Collingwood Collegiate Inst. CA) picked up the win and Robbie Behrens (Viera, FL/Viera) earned the save.
Bucks is now 8-17 overall.
Lehigh Carbon is now 12-23 overall.
