Cougars Keep Playoff Hopes Alive
SCHNECKSVILLE, Pa.- Lehigh Carbon Community College defeated Sussex County Community College with a final score of 54-49. The game was closely contested, with both teams fighting hard until the final whistle.
In the first quarter, the Skylanders took an early lead, scoring 11 points compared to the Cougars 6 points. However, Lehigh Carbon bounced back in the second quarter, outscoring Sussex County 15-4 to take a 21-15 lead heading into halftime.
The third quarter saw a scoring surge from both teams as the Skylanders put up 20 and the Cougars added 21. Lehigh Carbon maintained their lead and entered the final quarter up 36-31.
Both teams battled in the fourth quarter, but Lehigh Carbon was able to hold on to their lead and secure the victory.
For the Cougars, Emily Sebastian (Allentown, PA/Lehigh Christian Academy) was the leading scorer with 21 points, while Callie Cook (Emmaus HS) pulled down 10 rebounds. The game was closely contested, with both teams shooting at a high percentage. Lehigh Carbon shot 45.7% from the field, while Sussex County shot 40.8%.
Overall, it was a hard-fought game between two competitive teams. The Skylanders put up a great fight, but the Cougars were able to come out on top.
Sussex County drops to 3-6 in the region and 11-16 overall.
Lehigh Carbon improves to 4-4 in the region and 8-10 overall.
