Women's Volleyball Kicks Off Season with Victory
SCHNECKSVILLE, Pa.- Lehigh Carbon hosted Bergen Community College to open the 2024 season, their final season of collegiate athletics and came out on top with a 3-1 victory.
The box score shows the Cougars had a more efficient attack, with a higher kill percentage compared to the Bulldogs. Sophomore Kayla Nuss (Coplay, PA/Commonwealth Charter Academy) led the way for Lehigh Carbon with 15 kills, while fellow sophomore Alicia Hunsicker (Orefield, PA/Northwestern Lehigh) added 8 kills.
Bergen struggled with their attack, as they were unable to find a rhythm against Lehigh Carbon's defense. Despite the loss, the Bulldogs showed resilience in the second set, bouncing back to win it 25-23.
Overall, the Cougars strong offensive performance and solid defense proved to be the difference in the match. The win showcased their ability to control the game and execute their game plan effectively.
Bergen falls to 1-1 overall and in the region.
Lehigh Carbon improves to 1-0 overall and in the region.
